This vase displays a novel arrangement of traditional Iznik floral patterns in the saz style which was introduced into the Ottoman art in the second half of the 16th century. The style is characterized by extravagant representations of foliage with two prominent figures: long, serrated leaves shaped like daggers and fleshy, round rosettes. This vase uses these two elements to balance out the opposite effects of the two in a new arrangement by Mehmet Gürsoy.
